Charlesworth, Lewandowski & Mann present the first in a series of exhibitions based around an ongoing project; Take Hope.
At this exhibition at Take Courage gallery, the artists take the first step of recruiting an army, a mercenary force to aid in the capture of Hope, a small village in South Western Shropshire.
Funding organisations have been approached with applications to legally buy the buildings of the village and the surrounding land and with no replies to date and no funding anticipated we have been forced to conclude that direct, military style action is unavoidable.
At once a one-liner, a pointless excercise and an irreverent, if absurd, poke at contemporary international relations, the project aims to employ humour, parody, art and a rag-tag band of artists, students and close friends to examine whether a place, a name, an idea can be forcibly taken.
Take Hope will run from 21st February 2008, the show will open on Wednesday 20th February at 7:00pm
